About Ink & Stillness
A little stillness.
A new perspective.
A quiet place to bring a question to the I Ching, explore a reading, and write down what it brings to mind.
One unfolding page
A new reading uses the digital three-coin method, with independent browser-generated randomness and all 64 hexagrams. Your six recorded lines determine the primary hexagram, changing lines and any relating hexagram. A slower reveal gives you time with the same cast.
The source, AI reflection, follow-up conversation and your notes stay together. You can save up to 30 readings in this browser and return to them later.
A source and a conversation
Changing-line passages and hexagram judgments from James Legge's 1882 I Ching translation appear within your reading, with attribution and links to their chapters. The same passages are supplied to OpenAI alongside your reading context, so the AI can reflect on each changing line and the resulting hexagram. Its interpretations are distinct from the translation and can be mistaken.
The experience invites reflection rather than promising outcomes. You do not need an account or API key to begin. AI replies depend on a shared service allowance and may sometimes be unavailable.
See the reading guide for the method and controls, and privacy and storage for what stays in your browser and what is sent for generation.
